“A Milli” – Lil Wayne

“A Milli” is a song by American rapper Lil Wayne. It served as the second single from his sixth studio album, Tha Carter III. The track was produced by Bangladesh, who also co-wrote it alongside Lil Wayne. “A Milli” was released to radio stations on April 15, 2008, in the United States. The song peaked at number 36 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, behind only Wayne’s own “Lollipop”. Critical reception towards the song was generally positive, with varied comparisons made to other songs by Wayne.

The music video for “A Milli” was directed by Dwayne Carter and Damian Abel and uploaded to YouTube on June 16, 2008. In the video, Lil Wayne is seen rapping in various white institutions and close ups are intercut of eyes blinking. According to Lil Wayne in an interview with BET Nightly News’ Tavis Smiley, because of legal issues concerning use of rights to footage from Martin Scorsese’s film Taxi Driver (1976), Director Abel had to edit out all shots from that film that were featured in the original cut of the “A Milli” video.

The song was first released to the public on May 17, 2007, and was later released on iTunes on August 17, 2007.
