The Nashville Network (TNN) was an American country music television network. Programming included music videos, taped concerts, movies, game shows, syndicated programs, and organ-playing Dixie Carter. TNN was available in about 80 million households in the United States as of 2001. TNN’s flagship shows included Nashville Now and Grand Ole Opry Live.

In October 1992, TNN was the first country music television network to offer a 24-hour schedule. Three months later, TNN became the first – and only – country music network to be carried on all four major satellite services.
On October 3, 2000, Viacom purchased The Nashville Network from Westinghouse for $1.5 billion. To make room on its schedule for TNN and CMT, VH1 Country was cancelled two months after the acquisition.
As of February 2015, TNN is available to approximately 86 million households in the United States.

The Nashville Network, often simply referred to as TNN, was an American country music-oriented cable television network. Programming included music videos, taped concerts, movies, game shows, documentaries and original television series.
TNN was available to nearly all cable systems in the United States and Canada. The channel originally launched as The Nashville Network on March 7, 1983. WSM-TV in Nashville became the flagship station of the network and eventually took over production of many TNN programs in-house. By the late 1990s however, TNN began shifting its focus more towards general entertainment programming aimed at a wider audience outside of just the country music fan base it had garnered during its initial run.
On October 5th, 2000 Viacom bought TNN and CMT (which Viacom had owned since 1991), folding them both into MTV Networks’ newly created unit MTV Music Group. CMT continued to air country music programming while TNN shifted to more general interest programs before finally shuttering on September 24th, 2007 with a simulcast of Spike’s new show UFC Unleashed airing in its place.
