What is Electronic Dance Music?
Electronic dance music, also known as EDM, is a category of music that encompasses a wide variety of subgenres. The album debuted at number one on the US Dance/Electronic Albums chart and received critical acclaim from music critics.
deadmau5 has since released several more successful albums and singles, including “Album Title Goes Here” (2012), “While(1<2)" (2014), and "Stuff I Used to Do" (2016). He has also collaborated with a number of other artists, including Kaskade, Wolfgang Gartner, Skrillex, andRob Swire. In addition to his musical career, Zimmerman has also ventured into the world of film and television, appearing as himself in the 2016 film "X-Men: Apocalypse" and creating the score for the 2017 television series "Orphan Black". Skrillex
Skrillex, born in 1988, is an electronic dance music artist whofirst rose to fame as the lead singer of the post-hardcore band FromFirst to Last. Tiësto
Tiësto, born Tijs Michiel Verwest, is a Dutch DJ and record producer of electronic dance music. He was born in Breda, Netherlands on January 17, 1965. When he was just a young boy, Tiësto’s father instilled in him a love of music. His father would often take him to see live performances by artists such as Deep Purple and The Who. It was at one of these concerts that Tiësto fell in love with the sound of the synthesizer and knew that he wanted to create his own music one day.
Tiësto began his career in the early 1980s as a DJ in local clubs in the Netherlands. In 1994, he released his first album “Forbidden Paradise” under the alias “Da Joker”. This album caught the attention of A&R man Colin Gate at Black Hole Recordings who offered Tiësto a contract with the label. His first single under Black Hole Recordings was “Theme From Norefjell” which was released in May of 1997 and quickly became a hit in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Since then, Tiësto has gone on to release six additional studio albums, four compilations albums, and three live albums. He has also collaborated with some of the biggest names in electronic dance music including Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, and Hardwell. In 2013, he was voted by DJ Magazine readers as “The Greatest DJ Of All Time”.
Armin van Buuren
Armin van Buuren is a Dutch electronic music producer, DJ, and remixer. He has been voted #1 in the prestigious DJ Mag Top 100 poll five times, making him the only DJ to do so. His radio show, A State of Trance, is syndicated to over 37 countries, and he has hosted his own stage at Tomorrowland. In 2014, he was nominated for a Grammy Award for his work on the dance compilation A Year with Armin van Buuren.
