The Psychedelic Furs- “Love My Way”
Love My Way is the third studio album by English rock band the Psychedelic Furs, released on 7 September 1982 by Columbia Records. It was one of two albums the band recorded with producer Steve Lillywhite. The album was reissued on CD in 2002 by Columbia/Legacy with six bonus tracks.
The first single from the album, “Love My Way”, peaked at number 45 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1983. It was a bigger hit in Australia, where it reached number 16 on the Kent Music Report. In October 1982, the second single “Pretty in Pink” was released to coincide with the John Hughes film of the same name; it peaked at number 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became a cult classic. The song was re-recorded for the 1986 film’s soundtrack and again for the band’s 1991 greatest hits collection All of This and Nothing.
The Doors- “Light My Fire”
The Doors were an American rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, with vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and drummer John Densmore. They were among the most controversial and influential rock acts of the 1960s, mostly because of Morrison’s lyrics and charismatic but unpredictable stage persona. After Morrison’s death in 1971, the remaining members continued as a trio until disbanding in 1973.
“Light My Fire” is a song by The Doors from their 1967 album Strange Days. It was written by the band’s frontman, Jim Morrison, and guitarist Robby Krieger. Released as a single in July 1967 on Elektra Records, it spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in September and remained at number one for two weeks in Cash Box. A radio single edit lasting 2:43 was included on the original release of The Best of The Doors.
The Rolling Stones- “Paint It, Black”
The Rolling Stones’ “Paint It, Black” is one of the best psychedelic rock albums of all time. Released in 1966, the album features some of the band’s most iconic tracks, including “Paint It, Black,” “Plundered My Soul,” and “Under My Thumb.” With its dark and atmospheric sound, “Paint It, Black” is a true classic of the genre.
Jimi Hendrix- “Purple Haze”
Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze” is widely considered one of the best psychedelic rock albums of all time. Released in 1967, the album features some of Hendrix’s most iconic tracks, including the title track, “Fire”, and “Foxey Lady”. With its mix of blues, R&B, and psychedelic rock, “Purple Haze” helped to define the sound of psychedelia and cement Hendrix’s reputation as one of the greatest guitarists of all time.
Pink Floyd- “Another Brick in the Wall”
“Another Brick in the Wall” is a song by English rock band Pink Floyd. It was released as a single in November 1979, with “Childhood’s End” as its B-side.[1] The song appears on The Wall album (1979) and was released as the album’s third single. It reached number one in the UK,[2] and number 51 on the US Billboard Hot 100.[3] “Another Brick in the Wall” also became Pink Floyd’s first gold-certified track in the US.[4][5]
