The first step is to analyze your competitor’s link profile. You can do this using a variety of tools, but we suggest starting with Majestic SEO’s Open Site Explorer. Simply enter your competitor’s URL and click “Explore now.”

Once you’re on the Open Site Explorer page, you’ll see a summary of your competitor’s backlink profile, including the total number of links and the number of unique domains linking to their site.

You can also click on the “Referring Domains” tab to see a list of all of the unique domains that are linking to your competitor’s site. This is valuable information because it allows you to see which websites are linking to your competitor and whether or not those links are coming from high-quality sources.

To get an even closer look at your competitor’s link profile, you can click on the “Links” tab. This will show you all of the individual links that are pointing to your competitor’s site.

By analyzing your competitor’s link profile, you can get a good idea of what kind of backlinks they have and where they’re coming from. This information can be valuable when it comes time to build your own backlink campaign because it will give you an idea of which types of links are most valuable for your site.

When trying to improve your website’s SEO, one strategy you may want to employ is link intersect analysis. By finding and analyzing websites that link to your competitor’s site as well as your own, you can identify opportunities to improve your own off-page SEO.

To conduct a link intersect analysis, start by exporting the backlink profiles for your website and your competitor’s website into a spreadsheet. Then, use a tool like Vennage to find the intersecting links between the two sites.

Once you’ve found the intersecting links, take a close look at each one to see if there are any opportunities for you to get a link from that site as well. For example, if you see that one of your competitor’s links is from a directory listing, you may be able to get listed in that directory as well.
