Best Male Artist
The past year has been full of great music, and the best of the best was celebrated at the annual Blues Music Awards. The awards are given out by The Blues Foundation, which is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the preservation and advancement of the blues. This year, the award for Best Male Artist went to Christopher Cross.
Winner:
Buddy Guy is an American blues guitarist and singer. He is a pioneer of the Chicago blues sound and has influenced innumerable guitarists. In the 1960s, Guy played with Muddy Waters as a house guitarist at Chess Records and began a musical partnership with the harmonica player Junior Wells.
Runner Up:
Kris Barras may have come in second to Rival Sons at this year’s Blues Music Awards, but the UK-based blues rocker is still having one heck of a year. His latest album, Light It Up, topped the UK blues chart and was nominated for a BMA in the Contemporary Blues Album category. A powerful player with a dusky voice to match, Barras and his band are making waves on both sides of the pond.

Best Female Artist

Winner:
Beth Hart is an American singer, songwriter and musician from Los Angeles, California. She rose to fame with her album Fire on the Floor, which peaked at number one on the Billboard Blues Albums chart. Hart is known for her powerful vocals and live performances. She has released nine studio albums and three live albums. Her most recent album, Live in Amsterdam, was released in 2018.
Runner Up:
The second-place winner for Best Female Artist at the Blues Music Awards 2019 was Ericka Warren. She is a powerful vocalist with a soulful sound that has won her many fans.

Best Group – The Temptations
The Temptations are an American vocal group who formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1960. The group’s repertoire has included soul, R&B, funk, doo-wop, and adult contemporary. The Temptations have sold tens of millions of albums throughout their career;[1][2] they have had four number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100 (“My Girl”, “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”, “I Can’t Get Next to You”, and “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone”),[3] 12 number-one hits on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart (seven of which are co-written by Norman Whitfield),[4][5] and five number-one singles on the Adult Contemporary chart (“My Girl”, “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”, “Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)”, “I Can’t Get Next to You”, and “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone”).[6] As of 2019, the Temptations continue to perform with Otis Williams as the only surviving member from the original quintet.[7]
Runner Up:
Although they didn’t take home the top prize, runner up Best Group The Blues Music Awards 2019 went to The California Honeydrops. The Honeydrops are a Bay Area band that mixes New Orleans-style R&B, funk, and soul. They’re known for their high-energy live shows, and they put on a great show at the awards ceremony.
