Antone’s
Antone’s is a nightclub in Austin, Texas, USA, owned byrestaurateur Frank Kent. The club was founded in 1975 by Clifford Antone and has been host to many influential blues musicians. The club is located at 213 West 5th Street in the Warehouse District of Downtown Austin.
The club was started in a small converted house on Sixth Street and then moved to larger quarters on Congress Avenue. In 1978, the club moved again to its current location on Fifth Street. The new location had a capacity of 400 people. By 1980, the club became known internationally as a blues venue, and Clifford Antone was named “Austin’s Ambassador of the Blues” by Mayor Kirk Watson.
The club has also been host to many non-blues acts, such as Los Lobos, Stevie Ray Vaughan, George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Joe Cocker, Willie Nelson, B.B.
