The Costumes
The costumes for “Camp Rock 3: Live for Music” were created by costume designer Mary E. Vogt. Vogt, who has worked on Broadway musicals and Hollywood feature films, said that the goal was to create a “rock ‘n’ roll world” for the movie.
The cast wore a mix of vintage and contemporary clothing. For the girls, Vogt chose short skirts and baby-doll dresses in bright colors. The boys wore tight jeans and leather jackets. Some of the characters had specific style choices that were based on their personality. For example, lesbian character Jan is always seen in flannel shirts and ripped jeans.
The costumes helped to create a fun and energetic atmosphere on set. They also reflected the teenage characters’ growing maturity; as they get older, they start to dress more like adults.
The Filming
The film was shot on location at a real summer camp named Camp Star in upstate New York. The cast and crew stayed at the camp for the duration of filming, which took place over the course of six weeks.
