Winners of the Canadian Folk Music Awards
The Canadian Folk Music Awards were handed out last night in Toronto, with several artists taking home multiple awards. Amelia Curran won Album of the Year and Folk Roots/Traditional Album of the Year for her album They Promised You Mercy, while John Wort Hannam took home both the Songwriter of the Year and Solo Artist of the Year awards.

The Best Artist award goes to an individual or duo for their outstanding achievement in folk music. This year’s winners are:

Best Group
The Quivering Dendrites were announced as the winners of the Best Group category at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. Based in Vancouver, the five-piece group is known for its inventive use of found objects and homemade instruments.
