Country Music Awards 2022: The Winners

The top country music artists of the year will be celebrated at the 2022 Country Music Awards. Who will take home the coveted trophies?

Entertainer of the Year

This award is given to the artist who displayed the best overall performance during the eligibility period. Factors that are considered include touring, album sales, chart success, and media visibility. This is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an artist in the country music industry.

Male Vocalist of the Year

The Male Vocalist of the Year is a Country Music Association award that was first presented in 1957.

The award is given to “recognize the extraordinary vocal abilities of male vocalists in all genres of music.” The award has been presented annually since 1957, with the exception of 1959 and 1960.

The award was not presented in 1959 because the CMA did not hold an awards show that year, and in 1960, there was a tie for the award between Johnny Cash and Carl Smith.

The Male Vocalist of the Year award has been presented to some of country music’s most well-known singers, including George Strait, Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, and Brad Paisley.

In 2020, Luke Combs won the Male Vocalist of the Year award for the second year in a row.

Female Vocalist of the Year

The 52nd annual Country Music Association Awards were handed out Wednesday night in Nashville, with the top prize of Entertainer of the Year going to Carrie Underwood.

Other big winners included Maren Morris, who took home three trophies including Album of the Year for “GIRL,” and Chris Stapleton, who won Male Vocalist of the Year and Single of the Year for “Broken Halos.”

Vocal Duo of the Year

This award is given to the artist or artists with the best vocal performance in a duo. This can be any type of musical performance including country, pop, rock, and R&B.

Vocal Group of the Year

This award goes to the best vocal group in country music. This year’s nominees are:

And the winner is… Zac Brown Band!

New Artist of the Year

Caylee Hammack won New Artist of the Year, becoming the first female artist to take home the award in three years. Hammack was up against Jimmie Allen, Gabby Barrett, Ingrid Andress and Morgan Wallen.

Hammack dedicated her win to “any little girl with a dream,” saying, “This is for every single one of you out there.”

“I want you to know that I see you, I hear you and your voices matter,” she continued. “So dream big dreams, because as long as you stay true to yourself and what you believe in, anything is possible.”

Album of the Year

The album of the year goes to Sturgill Simpson for A Sailor’s Guide to Earth. This is Simpson’s first time winning this award.

Single of the Year

This year’s Country Music Awards were held on November 8th, 2022 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The awards show was hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. The nominees for Single of the Year were:

Song of the Year

This award goes to the artist, songwriter and producer of the year’s best country song. It’s one of the most prestigious awards in country music, and the artists who have won it are some of the biggest names in the genre.

Music Video of the Year

The music video of the year was awarded to Carrie Underwood for her song “Cry Pretty.” The video was directed by Randee St. Nicholas and produced by Shane Drake. Underwood was also nominated for three other awards including Female Vocalist of the Year, Single of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year.

Musical Event of the Year

The Country Music Awards are held every year to honor the best in country music. The award for Musical Event of the Year goes to the artist or artists who have had the best performance at a live event. This year’s winner is Eric Church for his performance at the CMA Awards.
