Luke Combs- “She Got the Best of Me”
Since its release, Luke Combs’ “She Got the Best of Me” has become a fan-favorite, with many viewers wondering what the story is behind the song. In an interview with Taste of Country, Combs revealed that the track was actually inspired by his own life and experiences.
“She Got the Best of Me” is a heart-wrenching ballad about a failed relationship, and Combs’ raw emotion is palpable in both the lyrics and his delivery. The songstress opens up about all of the ways in which his ex was better than him, admitting that she was “the sky and [he] was just a stone.” He goes on to say that even though he’s moved on, he can’t help but think about what could have been.
Listening to “She Got the Best of Me,” it’s clear that Combs is a gifted storyteller with a knack for painting vivid pictures with his words.
