Pearl Jam is an American rock band that formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1990. The band’s line-up consists of founding members Jeff Ament (bass guitar), Stone Gossard (rhythm guitar), Mike McCready (lead guitar), and Eddie Vedder (lead vocals, guitar), as well as drummer Matt Cameron (also of Soundgarden). Since its inception, the band’s line-up has included Matt Cameron (1990–present),Dave Krusen (1990), Dave Abbruzzese (1991–1994), Jack Irons (1994–1998), and Matt Cameron (1998–present).

Pearl Jam was one of the seminal bands of the grunge movement of the early 1990s. Opposition to the mainstream music industry quickly made them heroes of the alternative rock underground. The band brought together a wide array of influences, including punk rock and classic rock, and combined them with frontman Eddie Vedder’s urgent, emotive vocals to create their unique sound. pearl Jam released their debut album Ten in 1991. The band found themselves at odds with Ticketmaster after refusing to play by the company’s rules regarding service charges on concert tickets. This led to a much-publicized boycott of Ticketmaster venues by Pearl Jam that lasted until 1995. In 1998, Pearl Jam released their fifth studio album Yield. Later that year, they headlined Woodstock ’99; however, their set was marred by violence and vandalism committed by some attendees during their performance. In 2000, Pearl Jam released their sixth studio album Binaural. The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart and was warmly received by critics. 2002 saw the release of Pearl Jam’s seventh studio album Riot Act. Like its predecessor Binaural, Riot Act debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart upon its release..

Soundgarden
