What is Electronic Dance Music?

electronic dance music (EDM), also known as dance music, club music, or simply dance, is a broad range of percussive electronic genres made largely for nightclubs, raves and festivals. It is generally produced for playback by disc jockeys (DJs) who create seamless selections of tracks, called a mix, by segueing from one recording to another. EDM producers also perform their music live in a concert or festival setting in what is sometimes called a live PA. In Europe and North America, EDM is more commonly called simply “dance music” or “dance”.

These genres were developed initially by individuals such as Giorgio Moroder, Vangelis and Bernard Sumner; later on they were embraced and further developed by club DJs and electronic music producers. Various EDM genres have evolved over the last 40 years, for example; house, techno, trance, drum & bass etc., led by an ever-changing cast of influential DJs, Some festivals in the United States such as Electric Daisy Carnival have featured mostly EDM genres.

The Benefits of Electronic Dance Music

Electronic dance music, also known as EDM, is a genre of music that has exploded in popularity in recent years. According to a recent report by Nielsen, EDM concerts attended by 18-24 year olds increased by 32% between 2012 and 2013. And it’s not just young people who are attracted to this type of music – EDM festivals are now attended by people of all ages.

So why is electronic dance music so popular? There are a number of reasons. First, it’s accessible – you don’t need to be a trained musician to create it. Second, it’s energizing and upbeat, perfect for dancing. And third, it can be genuinely moving and emotional, with many artists creating tracks that tell stories or evoke specific feelings.

Whatever the reason for its popularity, there’s no doubt that electronic dance music is here to stay. If you’re thinking about getting into this exciting genre of music, here are some benefits that you can look forward to:

1. Increased creativity: One of the best things about making electronic dance music is that it allows you to tap into your creativity in a way that other genres simply don’t. You can let your imagination run wild as you create new soundscapes and experiment with different elements to create something truly unique.

2. Improved mental health: According to a recent study, listening to electronic dance music can improve your mental health and wellbeing. The study found that people who listened to EDM had lower levels of anxiety and stress, and they also reported feeling more positive overall. So if you’re looking for a way to boost your mood, electronic dance music could be the perfect solution.

3. A sense of community: One of the great things about the electronic dance music scene is the sense of community that exists between fans and artists alike. When you go to an EDM concert or festival, you’ll quickly feel like part of a big family – everyone is there to have a good time and enjoy the music.

4. A workout boost: If you find yourself struggling to motivate yourself to go to the gym, listening to some high-energy EDM could be just what you need. The fast tempo and positive vibe of most tracks will give you the boost you need to get moving and improve your fitness levels.

5. Improved sleep: If you have trouble sleeping at night, electronic dance music could be the answer. Studies have shown that listening to slow-tempo EDM can help improve sleep quality by promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety levels
