History of the Vancouver Folk Music Festival
The Vancouver Folk Music Festival is an annual music festival that takes place in Vancouver, British Columbia. The festival was founded in 1980 by the late Art Eagles, a local music promoter and radio personality. Eagles had been involved with the organization of a number of other music festivals in Vancouver, including the now defunct Harbour Fest and the still-running Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
The first edition of the Vancouver Folk Music Festival took place in July 1980 at Jericho Beach Park and featured a lineup of mostly local and Canadian acts. The festival has since expanded to include international artists and now takes place over three days at Jericho Beach Park.

This year’s Vancouver Folk Music Festival line-up is stacked with an incredible roster of artists. Some notable ones are: Mother Mother, Yukon Blonde, Bahamas, Holly Macve, and Dwayne Dopsie and the Zydeco Twisters.
