The hosts

Folk music often gets a bad rap as being boring, slow, and outdated. However, a new podcast called “The Folk Brothers” is hoping to change that perception. The hosts, John and Hank, are two life-long friends who share a passion for folk music. They believe that folk music is for everyone, and they hope to show their listeners that it can be fun and exciting.

Who the hosts are

The hosts are two young musicians, Abby and Charlie, who met in the thick of the Boston music scene. They bonded over their love of folk music (especially the British Invasion variety) and decided to start a podcast together.

They share a deep knowledge of the history and evolution of folk music, and they’re always on the hunt for new artists to check out. If you’re a fan of traditional or contemporary folk music, this is the podcast for you!

What the hosts bring to the table

Caitlin Robertson and Scott McAllister have a combined 30 years of experience in the music industry. They met while working atNPR Music and bonded over their love of folk music. After years of working in radio, they decided to start their own podcast, The Folklore Project, which is devoted to exploring the stories and traditions behind folk songs.

Robertson is a Folksinger and Songwriter whose work has been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered and McAllister is a Producer and sound engineer who has worked with some of the most well-known names in the business including Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, and Paul Simon.

What sets The Folklore Project apart from other music podcasts is the hosts’ passion for digging deep into the stories behind the songs. In each episode, they explore the history and origins of a different folk song. They interview musicians, scholars, and writers to get different perspectives on the songs, and they also perform some of the songs themselves.

If you’re interested in learning more about the rich history of folk music, or if you just want to hear some great music performed by talented musicians, be sure to check out The Folklore Project.

The music

The first thing that caught my attention was the music. The opening song is called “The Devil’s Dream” and it’s a beautiful, haunting melody. The rest of the album is just as good. The singer has a beautiful voice and the music is very well done.

What type of music you can expect to hear

The music on this podcast is a mix of traditional and contemporary folk music. You can expect to hear both well-known and obscure artists, as well as a variety of musical styles. In each episode, host Laraaji Chatman shares her love of folk music and introduces listeners to new artists and songs.
