Attendees can enjoy performances on multiple stages, participate in workshops and jams, and purchase food and merchandise from a variety of vendors.

What is the Fox Valley Folk Music and Storytelling Festival?

The Fox Valley Folk Music and Storytelling Festival is a not-for-profit, membership organization dedicated to the presentation, preservation and encouragement of folk music and storytelling.

Each year, the festival features over 50 musical acts and 20 storytelling performers from all over the country on nine stages spread out over three days. In addition to the performances, there are also workshops and jam sessions open to the public.

History of the Fox Valley Folk Music and Storytelling Festival

The Fox Valley Folk Music and Storytelling Festival is an annual event that began in 1974. It is held the second full weekend in September, at Island Park in Geneva, Illinois. The Festival features continuous music and storytelling on six different stages, over 100 performer workshops, jam sessions, square dancing, children’s activities, and a contra dance. Vendors offer a variety of food and drink, and there are also craftspeople and other exhibitors.

The Fox Valley Folk Music and Storytelling Festival is organized and produced by the Fox Valley Park District.

The Fox Valley Folk Music and Storytelling Festival Today

Each Fall, for the past 49 years, the Fox Valley Folk Music and Storytelling Festival has been held in beautiful downtown Geneva, Illinois. The event is produced by the Northern Illinois Folk Society (NIFS).

The Festival features two days of continuous music and storytelling on seven different stages. In addition to the indoor stages, there is an outdoor main stage overlooking the Fox River. The music features a variety of folk styles including Celtic, old-time, swing, contra dance, bluegrass, singer/songwriter and world music. In recent years we have featured performers from as far away as Ireland, Scotland, Sweden and Australia.

The storytelling program presents both traditional and modern stories for children and adults. Storytellers come from all over the Midwest to take part in the festival.

The Fox Valley Folk Music and Storytelling Festival is an annual event that takes place in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, United States. The event is organized by the Folklore Society of the Lehigh Valley and is one of the largest and most well-attended folk festivals in the country.
