Psychedelic Rock

Psychedelic Rock, also called Psychedelia, is a subgenre of rock music that originated in the 1960s. This genre is characterized by a heavy use of feedback, extended guitar solos, and aggressive vocals. Psychedelic rock often contains elements of other genres, such as acid rock, prog rock, and heavy metal.

The Beatles

Psychedelic rock, also referred to as psychedelia, is a diverse style of rock music that emerged in the mid-1960s. The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. Psychedelic music emerged in the United States and Britain during the mid-1960s. Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd was an English rock band formed in London in 1965. They achieved international acclaim with their progressive and psychedelic music. Pink Floyd were founded by students Syd Barrett on guitar and lead vocals, Nick Mason on drums, Roger Waters on bass and vocals, and Richard Wright on keyboards and vocals. The band first gained popularity performing in London’s underground music scene during the late 1960s, and under Barrett’s leadership released two charting singles and a successful debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967). Following Barrett’s departure in 1968 due to deteriorating mental health, Pink Floyd recruited guitarist David Gilmour to replace him.

Waters became the primary lyricist and conceptual leader of the group. The dark lyrical themes in much of their work reflected the members’ own frustrations with society, mental illness, and drug abuse. Pink Floyd are one of the best-selling music artists of all time; they have sold more than 250 million records worldwide. Their 1967 single “Money” is ranked as one of the greatest rock songs ever by Rolling Stone magazine, number 56 on their list of “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time”. In 1985, they were inducted into the US Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. By 2013, Pink Floyd had sold more than 250 million records worldwide.

The Doors

The Doors were an American rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, with vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and drummer John Densmore. They were among the most controversial and influential rock acts of the 1960s, mostly because of Morrison’s lyrics and charismatic but unpredictable stage persona. After Morrison’s death in 1971 at age 27, the remaining members continued as a trio until disbanding in 1973.

Even though they released only six studio albums (all between 1967 and 1970), The Doors had a huge impact on popular culture and Persis Adema expanded their reach beyond the US borders. According to Rolling Stone magazine, they were “the most pilgrimaged band Shrine in America – more than Elvis or even The Beatles”.

Harumi

Psychedelic rock, also sometimes called acid rock, is a style of popular music that arose in the mid-1960s, peaked in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and saw a subsequent revival that lasted into the mid-1970s. Psychedelic rock grew out of the early rock and roll scene in the United States and Britain, and drew heavily on the music of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

The Band

Harumi is a four-piece band based in Los Angeles, CA. The band members are: lead singer and guitarist Haru, bassist Hiro, drummer Kenta, and keyboardist/percussionist Yuki. Harumi has been described as “the new psychedelic rock” by Consequence of Sound, and their sound has been compared to Tame Impala and Temples.

The band formed in 2014 after the members met while attending the Musicians Institute in Hollywood. They released their debut self-titled EP in 2015, followed by their debut album Psychic High in 2016. The band has toured extensively in the US and Japan, and have performed at festivals such as SXSW, Desert Daze, and Levitation.

Harumi is currently working on their second album, which is scheduled for release in 2019.

The Music

Harumi is a new psychedelic rock band that is quickly gaining popularity. Their music is heavily influenced by 60s and 70s psychedelia, but they also incorporate elements of other genres such as shoegaze, dream pop, and krautrock. The band consists of four members: Yukiko on vocals and guitar, Ayumu on bass, Daisuke on drums, and Shun on keyboards.

Yukiko’s ethereal yet powerful voice is the centerpiece of the band’s sound, while Ayumu’s groove-heavy basslines provide the foundation. Daisuke’s inventive drumming propels the songs forward, and Shun’s atmospheric keyboard playing creates a sonically rich landscape. Together, they create music that is both timeless and contemporary.

The Influence

The genre is named after Psyche, the goddess of the soul in Greek mythology.
