Phil Rudd returned as drummer for Ballbreaker (1995). Stiff Upper Lip (2000) demonstrated a return to form for the band after a decade of declining sales; it also peaked at No. 1 on American charts for the first time since For Those About to Rock We Salute You ten years earlier—a gap between No. 1 albums equalled only by The Beatles’ eight years between 1966’s Revolver and 1974’s Abbey Road—and became their most recent UK No 1 till Black Ice was released 28 years later in 2008; indeed it would be their final studio album with Rudd prior to his arrest on charges of drug possession and making threats to kill in November 2015 resulting in his being fired from the band that year, being permanently replaced by Chris Slade who had previously played with them from 1989–90 during Rudd’s brief absence while he dealt with personal issues..
