The Techno House music scene is exploding with new talent and fresh sounds. If you’re looking to get into this exciting world, then you need to know the must have keywords. In this blog post, we’ll give you the inside scoop on the key terms you need to know to make it in the Techno House scene.

Introduction

Techno House music is a type of electronic dance music that emerged in the early 1990s. It is a hybrid genre that combines elements of techno and house music. Techno House music is characterized by a repetitive 4/4 beat, often with a syncopated bassline and melodic hooks.

Origins

Techno is a genre of electronic music that emerged in Detroit, Michigan in the United States during the mid-to-late 1980s. The first recorded use of the word techno in reference to a specific genre of music was in 1988.

Detroit

The first techno record is widely considered to be Juan Atkins’s “Cybotron” released in 1981, although there is some debate on this issue. “Cybotron” was a side project of Atkins and fellow Belleville, Michigan high school classmates Ricky Walters (later known as Sluggo or Rhythim is Rhythim) and soon after, Uriah Puentes. Cybotron’s sound was very similar to what would become techno, with a dark, robotic feel centered around Cybotron’s signature 808 drum machine beat. Juan Atkins has stated that he was inspired to make techno music after hearing Derrick May’s “Strings of Life” in 1987.

London

In the late 1980s, the London acid house scene centred on clubs such as Shoom, produced by Danny Rampling and Paul Oakenfold. Influenced by Chicago house, Detroit techno and the early New York house music created at The Loft and Paradise Garage, British producers began to experiment with MDMA (ecstasy), paganism, Druidism and aspects of the French new-wave movement. These themes were melded with a heavy bass sound to create what became known as “the rave sound”.

Key Figures

The techno music scene would not be what it is today without the help of a few key figures. These people have helped to shape the sound and culture of techno and house music and have been instrumental in its development. Some of the key figures in techno and house music include:

Juan Atkins

Juan Atkins is one of the most important figures in the history of techno music. He was born in Detroit in 1962 and began making music in the early 1980s. His first band, Cybotron, released the groundbreaking track “Clear” in 1984. This song is widely considered to be the first techno record ever made.

Atkins continued to make music under a variety of different names throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including Model 500 and Infiniti. He is still active today, and his work continues to influence electronic musicians all over the world.

Derrick May

Derrick May is a key figure in the techno house music scene. He is a singer, songwriter, DJ and producer who was born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1963. May is often credited as one of the pioneers of techno music, along with Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson. He was a member of the group Belleville Three, which also included Atkins and Saunderson. Belleville Three is considered to be responsible for the development of Detroit techno.

May’s most well-known track is “Strings of Life”, which was released under the pseudonym Rhythim is Rhythim in 1987. “Strings of Life” was a hit in the United Kingdom and helped to popularize techno music outside of Detroit. May has released several solo albums and has also remixed tracks by other artists, including Madonna and Depeche Mode.

Richie Hawtin

Richard “Richie” Hawtin (born June 4, 1970) is a British-Canadian electronic musician and DJ who was an influential part of Detroit techno’s second wave in the early 1990s and a leading international exponent of minimal techno since the mid-1990s. He is best known for his work under the alias Plastikman and for his 2002 album DE9 | Transitions. He is currently signed to M_nus, a subsidiary of Ultra Music Festival.

In May 1990, Hawtin and fellow musician John Acquaviva founded the independent record label Plus 8 with Adam Beyer and Davide Squillace. One of its first releases was Hawtin’s “Sheet One” in 1991. In the same year, Hawtin and Acquaviva also released their first mix album, X-Mix-1: The X-Mix Electro Boogie Compilation. In 1992, Hawtin released his debut solo album Dimension Intrusion under the alias FUSE.

In 1993, he collaborated with fellow Detroit techno producer Hector Moralez to release two EPs as part of their joint project Ignacio (named after Moralez’s infant son). Also in 1993, Hawtin became friends with Berlin techno producer Sven Vath after meeting him at a party in Frankfurt; the two have remained close friends and occasional collaborators ever since.

In 1994, he used the alias Plastikman when releasing his next album Musik; under this moniker he would achieve his greatest fame in the following years. In 1996, Hawtin moved to Berlin where he started his own club night called Input/Output (later shortened to IO). The night was originally held at the Tresor club but later moved to E-Werk and then back to Tresor before finally ending in 2000.

The Sound

Techno music is usually based around a strong, repetitive 4/4 beat, with syncopated rhythms often based on the von Oswald bass drum pattern.[1] House music builds on a 4/4 structure by using deeper basslines, while techno uses mechanical, synthesized basslines. Techno house music also uses more difficult to program synthesizers and drum machines, such as the 808 and 909, while house music often uses samplers more frequently.

Techno

Techno is a type of electronic dance music that originated in the United Kingdom in the late 1980s. The style is typified by a heavy use of synthesizers, drum machines, and Effects units. It shares many features with other forms of electronic dance music such as house and trance.

The originators of techno produced sets consisting solely of Detroit-style techno tracks mixed together without regard for song structure or narrative flow, an aesthetic that is still adhered to by some DJs today. The first techno DJs were often also the producers of the tracks they played, making them both trendsetters and taste-makers.

Techno has now spread around the world and is popular in Europe, North America, South America, Asia, and Australia. It has also influenced other genres such as house music and trance.

House

The sound of House music is often described as 4/4 beats with a consistent thumping bass drum on every beat. The sound is often accompanied by hi-hat cymbals on the 2 and 4 beats, and various percussion instruments on the backbeat. House music is often syncopated, with the bass drum hitting on the 1, 3, and 5 beats. This can give the music a very ‘dancy’ feel, which is why House music is often played in clubs and dance parties.

The Scene Today

Techno used to be defined by a sound: the Detroit techno of Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson. But that was 30 years ago. Nowadays, techno is more about a feeling, a state of mind. It’s about dancing all night and letting go of your inhibitions. And it’s about the music that comes from all over the world, from Berlin to Detroit to Melbourne.

Festivals

Festivals are one of the most important aspects of the techno house music scene today. They provide a place for fans of the genre to come together and enjoy the music, and they also help to promote new and upcoming artists. There are many different types of festivals, from small intimate gatherings to large-scale events that attract thousands of people.

One of the most popular types of festivals is the underground rave. These parties are usually held in secret locations, such as warehouses or empty buildings, and they often go on for hours or even days. The music at these parties is usually very loud and fast-paced, and the atmosphere is often wild and chaotic.

Another type of festival that has become increasingly popular in recent years is the outdoor music festival. These events are held in open spaces such as parks or fields, and they usually feature a variety of different genres of music. Many outdoor festivals also have camping facilities so that people can stay on site for the duration of the event.

No matter what type of festival you attend, you can be sure that you will see some great techno house music being played. These events are a great way to experience the genre and meet other people who love it as much as you do.

Clubs

Clubs are perhaps the most popular places to hear techno house music. This is likely because clubs often have state-of-the-art sound systems that can pump out bass-heavy music at high volumes. In addition, many clubs also feature visual displays or even laser shows that add to the experience.

Of course, not all clubs play techno house music. In fact, some clubs may only play other genres of electronic dance music such as trance or drum and bass. However, many clubs will have at least one night per week devoted to techno house music.

Record Labels

In the world of techno and house music, there are many different record labels, each with their own unique style and sound. Some of the most popular techno and house labels include:

-Dystopian
-Kompakt
-R&S Records
-Tresor
-Warp Records
