The Latin Music Italian Awards are an annual event that recognizes the best in Latin music. This year’s event was especially exciting, as it was the first time the awards were held in Italy. The awards are a great way to discover new artists and celebrate the achievements of established ones.
What are they?
The Latin Italian Awards are an annual awards show that recognizes the best and brightest in Latin music. Held in Milan, Italy, the awards show is one of the most prestigious events in the Latin music industry. This year’s show will be held on September 14, 2013.
Who is eligible?
The Latin Music Italian Awards are given to artists and groups originating from Italy or with Italian ancestry that have had significant commercial success in the Latin music field. Awards are also given out to non-Latin artists who have had a significant impact on the genre. To be eligible, an artist or group must have released a studio album, live album, or compilation album within the eligibility period.
The Categories
Best New Artist
Best New Artist is the category for a musician or group who releases, during the eligibility year, the recording that first establishes the public identity of that artist. A single or album must be released for the first time during the eligibility period in order to qualify, whether commercially, on Internet, or independently. New artists who had previously released a recording(s), but not under their current identification, are also eligible. An artist is considered a ‘new artist’ if his/her first recording(Vote Eligibility products) receives a national release in America during the eligibility year and meets all other requirements outlined below (maximum of 4 years since release).

Best New Artist
The Latin Music Italian Awards are the premier awards ceremony for Latin music in Italy. This year, the winners in the Best New Artist category are:

All three artists rose to prominence in 2013, with each releasing chart-topping albums and singles. Marco Mengoni’s “Pronto a Correre” was one of the year’s biggest hits, while Giusy Ferreri’s “L’amore e basta” and Elisa’s “Ancora Qui” were both massive radio staples.

Best Male Artist
The Latin Music Italian Awards are back for their third edition, and this year’s winners have been announced!
In the Best Male Artist category, the winner is Andrea Bocelli! The operatic tenor has been wowing audiences around the world for decades, and his latest album, Passione, is a collection of some of his most beloved love songs.
Andrea Bocelli is a true icon in the world of classical music, and we’re thrilled to see him take home this year’s Latin Music Italian Award for Best Male Artist!
Best Female Artist
The Latin Music Italian Awards are given out annually to recognize the best and brightest in Latin music. This year, the award for Best Female Artist went to Susana Baca.
Born in Peru, Susana Baca is a Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter who has been celebrated for her work in preserving Afro-Peruvian music. She has released more than a dozen albums, and her work has been featured in films and on television. In 2012, Susana Baca was named a UNESCO Artist for Peace.
