The Fairfield Four

The Fairfield Four is an American gospel music quartet founded in 1921. The group’s name comes from Fairfield Avenue in Nashville, Tennessee, where the original members met and sang. The Fairfield Four were inducted into the Gospel Music Association’s Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. They were also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Gospel Album in 2014.

The current lineup of the Fairfield Four includes Bobbye Sherrell, Steve Crawley, Luther G Mingle Jr., and Richard Sterban.

The Staples Singers

The Staples Singers were an American gospel, soul and rock and roll group who recorded and performed from the late 1950s until the early 2000s. The group was founded in Chicago in 1948 by Roebuck “Pops” Staples (1914–2000), and featured his children Cleophus (1934–2000), Pervis (b. 1935), Yvonne (b. 1937), Mavis (b. 1939) and Cynthia (1942–2018). Former members include Margaret Wheeler, who was with the group from 1948 to 1949, Joey Harris (alto saxophone; died 2018), and Steve Cropper (guitar; formerly of Booker T. & the MGs).

The Staples Singers gained recognition after appearing on radio in the early 1950s, singingurban gospel music originally written by Pops Staples.
