Hip Hop
Hip hop is a style of music that emerged in the 1970s from the African-American community. It is a genre of music that is characterized by its use of rhythm and rhyme, and its focus on social issues. Hip hop has also been influenced by other genres of music, such as rock, R&B, and reggae.
The term “hip hop” can be used to describe both the music and the culture that surrounds it. The hip hop culture includes fashion, art, dance, and language. Hip hop music is typically released on albums, or mixtapes, which are collections of songs from different artists.
The first hip hop song was “Rapper’s Delight” by the Sugarhill Gang, which was released in 1979. Since then, hip hop has become one of the most popular genres of music in the world. Some of the most popular hip hop artists include Drake, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and Cardi B.
R&B
R&B, short for rhythm and blues, is a genre of popular African American music that originated in the 1940s. It combines elements of blues, gospel, and jazz. R&B became popular after World War II because it gave African Americans a way to express their pent-up emotions and desires in a society that was still largely segregated. The genre has since evolved to include soul, funk, hip hop, and house music. R&B is often used as a synonym for soul music.
Artist Spotlight
In today’s music scene, hip hop and R&B are two of the most popular genres. There are many artists out there who are creating great music in these genres. In this article, we will take a look at some of the best new hip hop and R&B artists.
Hip Hop
Hip Hop is a genre of music that originated in the United States in the 1970s. It is characterized by a heavy use of sampling, often of older tracks, and a focus on rhythm and beats rather than melody. Hip Hop has been hugely influential, both in the US and around the world, and its impact can be seen in everything from fashion to language.
In the early days of Hip Hop, DJs would play extended versions of tracks, which they would then scratch or loop to create new sounds. This became known as ” breaks ” and was integral to the development of Hip Hop. As technology progressed, rappers began to record their own tracks, which they would then rap over. This allowed for more complex lyrical content and helped to establish Hip Hop as its own distinct genre.
Today, Hip Hop is one of the most popular genres of music, with artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Cardi B dominating the charts. It continues to evolve and be influenced by other genres, making it an exciting and dynamic genre of music.
R&B
R&B, short for rhythm and blues, is a genre of popular music that originated in African American communities in the 1940s. The term was originally used by record companies to describe recordings marketed predominantly to urban African Americans, at a time when “urbane, rocking, jazz based music with a heavy, insistent beat” was becoming more popular. In the commercial rhythm and blues music typical of the 1950s through the 1970s, the bands usually consisted of piano, one or two guitars, drums, and sometimes bass. Horn sections are often employed.
In recent years, R&B has begun to include elements of hip hop and rap music.
