The visuals

The concept

The making of the music video for Otep’s House of Secrets took place in Los Angeles, California in March 2003. The video was directed by Dale “Rage” Resteghini, who had previously worked with the band on their video for “Wake Up”.
The video features the band performing in a house which is gradually overrun by snakes, spiders, rats and other creepy-crawly creatures. At the end of the video, the house explodes.
Although it may look like the band were actually surrounded by real snakes and spiders, Resteghini used a combination of real animals and computer-generated effects to create the final effect.
The editing
After the footage was collected, it was time for me to start editing the video. I had to go through all of the footage and choose which scenes I wanted to use in the video. I also had to decide what order I wanted to put the scenes in and how long each scene should be. This part of the process took a lot of time and effort, but it was worth it in the end.
Conclusion
The video opens with a shot of a decrepit Victorian mansion, followed by shots of singer Otep Shamaya walking through various rooms of the house. The video focuses on various dark and mysterious elements of the mansion, such as a black cat, a grandfather clock, and a cobwebbed chandelier.
