Jamaican artist

Featuring a mix of reggae, dancehall, and hip-hop, the album is full of catchy tunes that will make you want to get up and dance. If you’re looking for some new music to help you party the night away, look no further than Pop Caan’s Light Up Your Life.

His career

Popcaan’s career began as a member of ad-hoc studio group Ravin’ produced by Notnice Records. Joined later by his friends and fellow effective deejays Moskato and Gaza Slim, Popcaan became the label’s first artist. After the success of the two-singles “Straight Jeans and Fitted” and “New Level”, Ravin’ was torn apart, with Gaza Slim and Moskato going on to pursue successful careers as solo artists.

Popcaan continued to work with Notnice, appearing on records such as Vybz Kartel’s “Clarks” from Pontiac Riddim, which was an international hit. He also aligned himself with Portmore Empire, an organization within the Portmore area set up by Vybz Kartel. In 2011, Popcaan’s debut album Where We Come From was released onMixpak Records to critical acclaim, cementing his position as a rising star in the genre. The album featured a more laid back style than is typical of dancehall, with 1980s-inspired synth riffs dominating the instrumentation.

His music

As the protégé of Vybz Kartel, Popcaan was introduced to the world through a series of hits with his boss including “Clarks” and “Romping Shop”. After becoming a solo artist, Popcaan proved he could stand on his own two feet with the release of his chart-topping debut album Where We Came From.

With his unique combination of Jamaican patois and infectious melodies, Popcaan has been able to conquer dancehalls and pop charts around the world. His music often celebrates the island’s party culture, but he’s also not afraid to address social issues like violence and poverty.

Whether he’s collaborating with Drake or dropping a new mixtape, Popcaan always manages to bring the party wherever he goes.

His impact

On October 19, 2018, deejay Popcaan released his album Forever, giving his fans a mix of both new and old songs. The album was highly anticipated as Popcaan had been pretty quiet since the release of his mixtape Where We Come From in 2014. Forever includes songs like “Body So Good,” “Firm and Strong,” and “Weed Is My Best Friend.” It also has features from Jaffer the Sirius, Davido, Quavo, and PartyNextDoor.

Although some may argue that Popcaan isn’t as popular as he used to be, there’s no doubt that he’s still one of the most influential artists in dancehall. His impact is seen in both the older and newer generations of dancehall artists. For example, artists like Vybz Kartel and Mavado found success by following in Popcaan’s footsteps and using Auto-Tune on their tracks. Similarly, newer artists like Teejay and Shenseea have been able to break into the mainstream due to Popcaan’s influence.

So far, Forever has been well-received by both fans and critics. It debuted at number two on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart andnumber nine on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. And although it didn’t receive as much commercial success as some of his previous projects, it’s still a solid album that showcases Popcaan’s talent and influence.
