The first butterflies were made by melting down various colors of candy and formed into wing shapes. The candy was then attached to safety pins and sold for 25 cents each.
The popularity of the butterfly quickly spread beyond Arkansas and soon there were Psychedelic Butterflies being made and sold all over the country. The original creators of the butterfly soon found themselves in the middle of a legal battle over the use of the name “Psychedelic Butterfly”.
