They began playing shows around Birmingham, build up a small following, and released their self-titled debut album in 1970. Commercial success

Iron’s album, “Psychedelic Rock Band,” sold over 100,000 copies and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album peaked at number one on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and number nine on the Billboard Hard Rock Albums chart.

The band toured extensively in support of the album, playing shows with acts such as Metallica, Foo Fighters, and Stone Temple Pilots. They also made appearances on late-night talk shows and festivals.

In September 1998, Iron released their second album, “2.” The album peaked at number eight on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and number 44 on the Billboard 200.

The album was followed by a world tour, during which the band played over 200 shows in support of it.
