Shrek the Musical is coming to Little Rock!
Shrek the Musical is a stage adaptation of the 2001 DreamWorks film Shrek and the William Steig book Shrek!, itself an adaptation of the film. The musical premiered on Broadway in December 2008, opening to largely positive reviews. The story follows Shrek, a grumpy and lonely ogre, who goes on a quest to save a princess named Fiona from being forced to marry Lord Farquaad. Along the way, he is joined by Fiona’s would-be rescuer Donkey, as well as a host of other Fairytale creatures who have been displaced by Lord Farquaad’s regime.
The musical features several songs from the film’s soundtrack, as well as new material written for the stage show. The show’s original Broadway cast included Brian d’Arcy James as Shrek, Daniel Breaker as Donkey, Sutton Foster as Fiona, John Tartaglia as Lord Farquaad, and Tim Hatley as Dragon.
Shrek the Musical will be coming to the Robinson Center in Little Rock, Arkansas from June 9-10, 2018. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000.

The musical features an incredible score of 19 all-new songs, written by Jeanine Tesori (Caroline, or Change) and David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole), along with original music from the movie.

The musical comedy “Shrek The Musical” is coming to Little Rock, Arkansas! The show will be at the Walton Arts Center from Tuesday, May 1st through Sunday, May 6th.
“Shrek The Musical” is based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film and the book by William Steig. The story follows Shrek, an ogre who goes on a journey to rescue the feisty Princess Fiona from a dragon-guarded tower. Along the way, the unlikely hero meets a wise-cracking donkey and finds true love in this “big bright beautiful world.”
The production features all new songs from Tony Award winner Jeanine Tesori and a hilarious script from David Lindsay-Abaire. The original Broadway production was nominated for eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

The lovable green ogre captured our hearts in the 2001 DreamWorks animated film, and we fell in love all over again when he returned in 2004’s Shrek 2. Now, we’re getting ready for another dose of Shrek-y goodness with Shrek the Musical, which is coming to Little Rock this October!
