Up Town Funk is a song by American producer Mark Ronson from his fourth studio album, Uptown Special (2015), featuring vocals from American singer and rapper Bruno Mars. The song was released as the album’s lead single on November 10, 2014. On December 8, 2014, Up Town Funk was serviced to contemporary hit radio stations in the United Kingdom as the second single there, following “Don’t”, which peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart in October 2014.

Up Town Funk received mixed reviews from music critics. Many praised Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson’s performance, with some deeming it one of the best songs of 2014 and 2015. However, some critics criticized the lyrical content for being too sexually suggestive. The song became a commercial success worldwide, peaking at number one in 11 countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa and the United Kingdom. In the United States, Up Town Funk spent 14 consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart (marking Mars’ fifth number-one song on that chart) and became both Mars’ and Ronson’s first US number-one single as artists. The song also spent seven weeks atop the US Mainstream Top 40 chart and 13 weeks atop the US Rap Songs chart; both remain record-length runs for those charts to this day. Its accompanying music video features cameos from many famous celebrities such as Jeff Goldblum , James Brown and Elvis Presley .

The song won two Grammy Awards for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Record of the Year . In December 2014, Rolling Stone ranked “Up Town Funk” fourth on its annual year-end list of the 100 best songs of 2014 writing “It takes a special kind of swagger to write a horn riff that could be dusted off for any ’70s Soul Train line – yet make it sound so fresh.”
