Where is the Love at the Latin American Music Awards?
The Latin American Music Awards were held last night, and while there were plenty of amazing performances, one thing was noticeably absent: love.
Introduction
It’s no secret that the Latin American Music Awards (LAMAs) is one of the most highly-anticipated events of the year. The awards show celebrates the best and brightest in Latin music, and this year’s event did not disappoint.
The night was filled with amazing performances, touching speeches, and, of course, plenty of love. Here are some of the moments that had us feeling all the feels.
The Latin American Music Awards
The Latin American Music Awards (LAMAS) is an annual awards show that celebrates Latin American music. This year’s show will take place on October 17, 2019, at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
The LAMAS are organized by the Latin Recording Academy, which is a part of the larger Recording Academy (the organization behind the Grammy Awards). Unlike the Grammys, however, the LAMAS are not televised.
This year’s LAMAS will feature performances by some of the biggest names in Latin music, including Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Ozuna, Becky G, Anuel AA, and many others. However, some fans are wondering why there seems to be a lack of love for Latin trap music at the awards show.
This year’s nominees for “Album of the Year” are all pop albums: J Balvin’s “Oasis,” Bad Bunny’s “X 100PRE,” Ozuna’s “Nuestro Plan Ender,” and Rosalia’s “El Mal Querer.” There are no nominations for any Latin trap albums.
Some fans have accused the Latin Recording Academy of snubbing trap music, and they’re not happy about it. One fan even started a petition asking for more representation for trap music at the LAMAS.
It remains to be seen if anything will change for next year’s awards show, but one thing is for sure: The LAMAS are sure to be an exciting night of music!

The backlash
The Latin American Music Awards were held last night and there was plenty of love to go around, but some people are wondering where the love was for certain artists.
The night belonged to Shakira and J. Lo, who each took home four awards, but there was some criticism that the awards were too focused on them and didn’t give enough love to other deserving artists.
Some also felt that the awards were too focused on pop music and didn’t give enough recognition to other genres like reggaeton and cumbia.
Do you think the Latin American Music Awards are getting it right? Let us know in the comments!
Conclusion
The night was filled with many amazing performances, but there was one thing that was noticeably absent: love. There wasn’t a single performance that exuded love, whether it be between two people, between a performer and their craft, or between a performer and their audience. Even the love songs that were performed didn’t seem to come from a place of love. It was as if the performers were going through the motions, singing the words because they were supposed to, not because they meant them.
Maybe it’s just me, but I think that the Latin American Music Awards would be a lot more enjoyable if the performers put more heart into their performances. Maybe then we would be able to feel the love that’s supposedly supposed to be emanating from the stage.
