After a tumultuous 2020, country music fans are ready for a fresh start in 2021. Here are a few things we can expect to see in the genre this year.

The State of Country Music in 2020

The COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the country music industry. The pandemic has led to the cancellation of numerous country music festivals and concerts, as well as the postponement of several tours. This has resulted in a significant loss of revenue for the industry.

In addition, the pandemic has forced many country music artists to postpone or cancel their album releases. This has resulted in a number of highly anticipated albums being delayed until 2021.

Despite the challenges that the pandemic has posed for the industry, there have been some positive developments in country music in 2020. For example, several high-profile country music stars have released successful albums, including Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, and Maren Morris. In addition, the traditional country music radio format has experienced a resurgence in popularity in recent months.

Looking to 2021, it is likely that the country music industry will continue to be impacted by the pandemic. However, there is also reason to believe that the industry will begin to recover as vaccines are distributed and more people are able to return to live events.

The Black Lives Matter Movement

The Black Lives Matter movement has been a powerful force in 2020, and it’s expected to continue to influence country music in 2021. Artists like Lizzo, Lil Nas X, and Brandy Clark have already begun to address social issues in their music, and more artists are likely to follow suit. Expect to see more songs about racism, inequality, and social justice in the coming year.
