90s Music Video Soap Opera Stars: Where Are They Now?

We all remember the ’90s, when MTV actually played music videos and soap opera stars were everywhere. But what ever happened to those famous faces? Let’s take a look at where some of them are now.

Introducing the cast of characters

The cast of characters in this article are some of the biggest names in 90s music videos. At the time, they were best known for their roles in popular soap operas like “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Melrose Place.” But what have they been up to since then?

-Luke Perry: After “Beverly Hills, 90210,” Perry starred in a number of TV shows and movies, including “Oz” and “Jeremiah.” He most recently appeared in the hit show “Riverdale.”

-Shannen Doherty: After “Beverly Hills, 90210,” Doherty starred in a number of TV shows and movies, including “Charmed” and “Independence Day.” She currently stars in the reality show “Glam Fairy.”

-Heather Locklear: After “Melrose Place,” Locklear starred in a number of TV shows and movies, including “Spin City” and “The Perfect Man.” She currently stars in the reality show “$#*! My Dad Says.”

-Tiffani Thiessen: After “Beverly Hills, 90210,” Thiessen starred in a number of TV shows and movies, including “Saved by the Bell” and “Fastlane.” She currently stars in the Cooking Channel show “Dinner at Tiffani’s.”

Where are they now?

Most of us remember the stars of our favorite 90s music videos. We watched them grow up on TV and we’re curious to know what they’re up to now. Here’s a quick update on some of our favorite stars.

Aaliyah

Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born on January 16, 1979, and was raised in Detroit, Michigan. At a young age, she showed an interest in singing and acting. When she was 10 years old, Aaliyah made her debut on the television show Star Search. After appearing on a few more TV shows, she released her first album at the age of 12.

In 1994, Aaliyah released her second album titled Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number. The album debuted at number 18 on the Billboard 200 chart and went platinum in the United States. Later that year, she starred in her first film, Romeo Must Die.

Tragically, Aaliyah died in a plane crash on August 25, 2001, at the age of 22. She was returning from shooting the music video for her single “Rock the Boat” in the Bahamas when the plane crashed shortly after takeoff. All nine people onboard were killed.

Since her death, Aaliyah has been honored with numerous posthumous awards including a Grammy Award and a BET Award. In 2002, Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number was certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA and has sold over 14 million copies worldwide.

TLC

TLC is an American girl group that was active in the early 1990s. The group was composed of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas. They were one of the best-selling girl groups of all time, selling over 65 million records worldwide.

The group became known for their unique style, which blended R&B, hip hop, and soul music. They also became known for their candid lyrics about personal relationships and social issues.

After a series of hits in the early 1990s, the group went through a period of turmoil due to financial disputes and personal tragedies. In 2002, Lopes died in a car accident, and the group disbanded shortly thereafter.

Watkins and Thomas eventually reformed the group in 2008 without Lopes. They released a new album in 2017 called TLC which peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.

The group has won five Grammy Awards and numerous other awards throughout their career.

Boyz II Men

Boyz II Men is an American R&B and hip hop group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, consisting of Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman, and Wanya Morris. The group was founded in 1988 and rose to fame in the early 1990s with their debut album, Cooleyhighharmony, which featured the Grammy-winning singles “End of the Road” and “I’ll Make Love to You”.

The group has sold over 68 million albums worldwide and is currently working on a new album. They have also been featured on songs by other artists, such as Mariah Carey’s “One Sweet Day” and Justin Bieber’s “Purpose”.

Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey is an American singer and songwriter. She rose to fame in the early 1990s with her debut album, “Mariah Carey”, which topped the US Billboard 200 chart. Her subsequent albums “Emotions” (1991) and “Music Box” (1993) also topped the charts and made her one of the most successful female recording artists of the 1990s. She has sold more than 200 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

Carey began her career as a background vocalist for Sony Records before releasing her debut album in 1990. Her debut album was a commercial success, selling more than 15 million copies worldwide. It spawned four number-one singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart: “Vision of Love”, “Love Takes Time”, “Someday” and “I Don’t Wanna Cry”. Carey’s second album, “Emotions”, was released in 1991 and topped the charts in several countries, including the US, Canada and Australia. It generated eight number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including “Can’t Let Go”, “Make It Happen” and “Emotions”.

Carey’s third album, “Music Box”, was released in 1993 and topped the charts in several countries, including the US, Canada and Australia. It spawned four number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart: “Dreamlover”, “Hero”, “Without You” and “All I Want for Christmas Is You”. Carey’s fourth album, 1995’s Daydream, continued her commercial success with the singles “Fantasy” and One Sweet Day”. In 1998, Carey released her fifth album, Butterfly; it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and spawned the international hit single “.

Carey’s next album, Rainbow (1999), saw a decline in sales but still managed to top the charts in several countries, including the US. After a two-year hiatus during which she married rapper Eminem and gave birth to their daughter Hailie Jade Scott Mathers, Carey returned to music with The Emancipation of Mimi (2005). The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and spawned four successful singles: “(We Belong Together)”, “‘Obsessed'”, “‘Touch My Body'” “‘I’ll Be Lovin’ U Long Time'” .In 2009 Carey released her eleventh studio album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel; it debuted at number three on Billboard 200 and produced five singles: “. careymusic (dot) com.”

What happened to them?

They were the stars of some of our favorite 90s music videos, but what ever happened to them? Some have gone on to have fabulous careers, while others have all but disappeared. Let’s take a look at what some of these soap opera stars are doing now.

Aaliyah

Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born on January 16, 1979, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Michael and Diane Haughton. She was a backup dancer for R&B singer Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and rap star Missy Elliott before embarking on a solo singing career in the early 1990s. In 1996, Aaliyah appeared in the film Romeo Must Die, starring opposite Jet Li. She also recorded the film’s soundtrack, which featured the chart-topping single “Try Again.” The following year, she released her self-titled second album, Aaliyah. The album features the hits “Are You That Somebody” and “More Than a Woman.” Tragically, on August 25, 2001, Aaliyah and eight others were killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas while returning from shooting the music video for “Rock the Boat.” She was 22 years old.

TLC

TLC was one of the most successful girl groups of the 1990s. They released hit songs such as “Waterfalls,” “No Scrubs,” and “Unpretty.” The group also starred in their own reality show, “Jammin’ with TLC” which aired on MTV.

In 2002, the group announced they were taking a hiatus so that each member could focus on solo projects. During this time, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes tragically died in a car accident.

The surviving members, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, later reunited and released a new album in 2017. The album, titled “TLC,” included songs that were recorded before Lopes’ death as well as some new tracks.

Boyz II Men

Boyz II Men is an American R&B and hip hop group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, consisting of Michael McCary, Nathan Morris, and Shawn Stockman. The group was founded in 1988 as part of a local teenage vocal group named Boyz. After a few lineup changes, the group signed with Motown Records in 1991 and released their debut album, “Cooleyhighharmony”, which went on to become one of the best-selling albums of all time. The group achieved massive success in the early 1990s with a series of successful albums and hit singles, including “End of the Road”, “I’ll Make Love to You”, and “One Sweet Day”.

In the mid-1990s, Boyz II Men’s popularity began to decline due to personal struggles and a changing musical landscape. The group was dropped by Motown in 2000 and McCary left the group in 2003. Morris and Stockman continued to tour and release new music as a duo until Stockman’s departure in 2006. Since then, Boyz II Men has continued to tour and release new music sporadically. In 2016, the group reunited with McCary for a series of performances commemorating the 25th anniversary of their debut album.

Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She rose to fame in the early 1990s with her self-titled debut album and hit singles “Vision of Love” and “I Don’t Wanna Cry.” Carey is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with more than 200 million records sold worldwide.

Since the beginning of her career, Carey has spent considerable time on philanthropic endeavors. She founded the Fresh Air Fund’s Camp Mariah program in 1995, which gives underprivileged children from New York City the opportunity to spend time at a summer camp. Carey has also supported various charities throughout her career, including Children’s Health Fund, World Hunger Relief, and AIDS United.

In 2001, Carey was honored with the American Music Award for Lifetime Achievement. She has also received numerous Grammy Awards, including five for Album of the Year.
