The Troubadour is a 500-capacity music venue located at 9081 Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, California. The club was opened in 1957 by Doug Weston as a coffeehouse and folk music venue, and has been an important center for the American folk music revival in the late 1950s and early 1960s, hosting such artists as Odetta, Joan Baez, Phil Ochs, and Tom Paxton. In the 1970s it became a major outlet for rock music.
The Troubadour was also one of the places where the Byrds gave their first public performance with Roger McGuinn on February 3, 1964. The club is now best known as a showcase for up-and-coming alternative rock and punk rock acts.
