The Best New Artists of the Last Few Years

The best new artists of the last few years come from all over the world and from many different musical backgrounds. Here are some of our favorites:

cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason is one of the most exciting young musicians to emerge in recent years. His debut album, Inspiration, was released in 2017 to critical acclaim, and he has gone on to perform with some of the world’s leading orchestras.

pianist Alexandre Kantorow is another rising star. He won first prize at the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in 2015, and his debut album was released to great acclaim in 2018.

the Austrian-based piano duo of Andreas Ottensamer and Emanuel Ax are two more artists who have been making waves in the classical world. They have released several albums together, and their playing is both highly virtuosic and deeply sensitive.

There are many other superb young classical musicians out there making exciting music – too many to list here! These are just a few of our favorites.
