This was when a new generation of musicians began to redefine the genre, fusing together elements of swing, bop, and blues to create something unique and entirely their own.

And while there have been many great jazz albums released in the intervening decades, we’ve compiled a list of what we believe are the best jazz albums of the century. These are the records that have stood the test of time, and which continue to inspire new generations of musicians.
