Dr Who is to make music at the Opera House, it has been announced. The Time Lord will be appearing as part of a special event to mark the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who.
The event, which will take place on November 23, will see Dr Who perform a selection of songs from the hit TV show, as well as some of his other musical ventures.
It is not yet known who will be accompanying Dr Who on stage, but it is expected that a number of special guests will be joining him for the performance.
This is not the first time that Doctor Who has made an appearance at the Opera House. In 2008, he played a very special concert to mark the show’s 45th anniversary.
The opera house
The Sydney Opera House is an iconic building in Australia and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. The opera house was built in 1973 and is located on Sydney Harbour. The opera house hosts a variety of events and concerts throughout the year, and is also home to the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
Music
Dr Who is set to make music at the Royal Opera House in a special concert later this year.
The BBC sci-fi series’ composer, Murray Gold, will be conducting the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra in a performance of music from the show on September 27.
It will be the first time that music from the series has been performed at the prestigious venue, and follows similar concerts featuring music from Game of Thrones and Star Wars.
Speaking about the concert, Gold said: “I’m immensely proud and thrilled that the BBC Philharmonic is going to perform my music from Doctor Who at the Royal Opera House.”
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to present this music on such a grand scale and I can’t wait to see (and hear) the results.”
The concert will feature music from all 12 seasons of Doctor Who, including from this year’s Christmas special.
