2010-2011
Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites”, released in 2010, was one of the first mainstream dubstep tracks and is credited for popularizing the genre. It was a commercial success, reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song won two Grammy Awards for Best Dance Recording and Best Dance/Electronica Album.

Knife Party – Internet Friends
Knife Party is an Australian electronic dance music duo consisting of Rob Swire and Gareth Knight from the drum and bass band Pendulum. In late 2011, they founded their own record label, earMUSIC, and released their debut album, Abandon Ship. The duo’s second album, Trigger Warning, was released in 2020.
Swire and Knight were both members of Pendulum before embarking on their Knife Party project in 2011. They began working on the project while Pendulum was on hiatus. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Swire said that he had “messed around with making electro house for a while”, but that he “didn’t have time to do anything serious with it”. He also stated that he had no intention of making Knife Party a full-time project, and that it was simply a way for him to experiment with a different style of music.
In November 2011, Knife Party released their debut single, ” internet friends”, which entered the UK Singles Chart at number sixty-six. The song’s success led to the duo signing a record deal with Universal Music Group. Their second single, “Antidote”, was released on 16 December 2011 and peaked at number seventeen in the UK.
Zedd – Clarity
Zedd’s debut album ‘Clarity’ was one of the biggest electronic dance music albums of the 2010s. The album featured a host of big names in the EDM scene including Skrillex, Alesso, and foxes. Marshmello – Alone
“Alone” is a song by American electronic dance music producer Marshmello, co-written by American singer and songwriter Khalid. It was released on May 11, 2017, exclusively on Apple Music.[1] The following day, it was released for digital download and streaming on other platforms. “Alone” is a sad ballad Folktronica and future bass track with tropical house elements. The song is about being lonely and not feeling like you fit in.[2]

It was written by Andrew Taggart, Ashley Frangipane, Jonathan Simmons and Shaun Frank, with production handled by The Chainsmokers. “Closer” marks as both The Chainsmokers and Halsey’s first number-one single on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
