Introduction

The Electronic Dance Music Grammy nominations were announced today and recognizing the growing popularity of the genre, the Recording Academy has expanded the number of award categories from one to three.

The nominees for Best Dance Recording are:
– ‘Don’t Stop the Party’ by The Black Eyed Peas
– ‘I Can’t Live Without My Radio/Louboutins’ by DJ Khaled feat. LL Cool J & Busta Rhymes
– ‘Let’s Go’ by Calvin Harris feat. Ne-Yo
-‘Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites’ by Skrillex

Best Dance Recording

This award is given to the artist and producer(s) of a song for outstanding achievement in the field of dance music. It is awarded to the song that has made the greatest impact in the field of dance music.

Best Dance/Electronic Album

The Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album is an award presented at the Grammy Awards – a ceremony that was established in 1958 – to recording artists for quality albums in the dance music and electronic music genres.

To be eligible for this award, an album must be mostly focused on dance-based electronic music and must have been released within the eligibility period. Grammys are awarded annually, and the eligibility period for this particular award is October 1st through September 30th.

This award was first presented at the 41st Annual Grammy Awards in 1999, and has been handed out every year since then with the exception of 2007 (when it was not awarded) and 2011 (when it was combined with another category).

Recipients of this award are typically renowned DJs, producers, or musicians who have made significant contributions to the dance/electronic music genre. Some notable recipients include Daft Punk (for their album Random Access Memories), Skrillex (for his album Bangarang), Calvin Harris (for his album 18 Months), and David Guetta (for his album Nothing But the Beat).

Best Remixed Recording

This award is given to the remixer(s) of a track for the best overall remix of a song. The credit must go to the artist who created the original mix, not just the producer.

Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical

This award goes to the sound engineer(s) of the album, not the artist or producer. The nominees are:

* Four Tet – Beautiful Rewind
* Jamie xx – In Colour
* Matthew Herbert – The End of Silence
* ODESZA – In Return
* Porter Robinson – Worlds

The winner will be announced at the Grammy Awards ceremony on February 15, 2016.

Producer of the Year, Non-Classical

The Producer of the Year, Non-Classical is an annual award given to a producer who has had “a significant impact on the quality of contemporary recorded music during the eligibility period.” The award was first presented in 1974 under the title Grammy Award for Best Producer. In 1980, it was renamed Producer of the Year and has been given under that name since.

The award is given to producers “whose work demonstrates integrity and imagination and a Historical significant contribution to the recording field as a whole.” This includes producers who work in multiple genres, including pop, rock, R&B, rap, world music, jazz, gospel, and country.

Conclusion

The Grammy Awards are given out annually by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences to honor achievement in the music industry. There are many different award categories, and each year the eligibility requirements and voting procedures are updated to reflect the changes in the music industry.

The category for Best Dance Recording was first introduced in 1998, and since then, a wide variety of electronic dance music subgenres have been nominated for Grammy Awards. In recent years, nominees in this category have included projects from well-established artists like The Chemical Brothers and Skrillex, as well as breakout acts like Flume and Porter Robinson.

For the 2017 Grammy Awards, four electronic dance music artists were nominated in the Best Dance Recording category: The Chainsmokers, Flume, Galantis, and effort from Louis the Child and Mura Masa. This article will take a look at each of these nominees and their contributions to electronic dance music.
