History
Founded in 1991
Founded in 1991, Ministry of Sound was the brainchild of Justin Berkmann who had the vision to create a nightclub that would be dedicated to the emerging house music sound. Berkmann approached several London clubs, but they all turned him down. Undeterred, he rented a large warehouse in Southwark where he threw an illegal party featuring DJ Paul Oakenfold. The party was a huge success, and Ministry of Sound was born.
The club quickly became a mecca for clubbers from all over the world and began to play host to some of the biggest names in dance music including Pete Tong, Sasha, and Fatboy Slim.
