We welcome all students, regardless of experience or musical taste, to come join us in exploring this amazing genre of music. Our members come from all walks of life and we believe that electronic music has something to offer everyone. So whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a complete novice, we invite you to come check us out and see what we’re all about!

The Electronic Dance Music Society is a student-run organization at SUNY Albany that is open to anyone who is interested in electronic dance music. We host events, workshops, and provide resources for our members. We strive to create a community for students to come together and enjoy the music that we love.
Who We Are
We are a student-run organization that seeks to promote and artistically cultivate the genre of Electronic Dance Music, as well as provide our members with resources and skillsets needed to succeed in the industry.
What started out as a couple of friends getting together to play video games and listen to electronic music has now blossomed into a full-fledged club on campus! Since our humble beginnings, we’ve made it our mission to educate and entertain our members about the ever-growing global phenomenon that is EDM. We do this by throwing events featuring local DJs, inviting world-renowned artists for talks and performances, and teaching hands-on production workshops. Furthermore, we seek to create an inclusive community for all those interested in electronic music regardless of prior knowledge or experience.
So whether you’re a seasoned raver looking to relive the glory days or a curious newbie who doesn’t even know what EDM stands for (it’s okay, we didn’t either at first), come join us at one of our weekly meetings or events!
What We Do
The Electronic Dance Music Society is a SUNY Albany student organization that hosts events, featuring electronic dance music DJs, for the university community. We provide a place for students to enjoy live EDM performances, meet other music lovers, and learn more about the genre. Our goal is to educate students about electronic dance music and its culture while providing a fun and safe environment for all attendees.
Upcoming Events
This semester, the Electronic Dance Music Society (EDMS) will be hosting a variety of events for students interested in electronic dance music. We have DJs coming in from all over the Northeast to perform, as well as workshops on production and DJing. These events are open to everyone, so come out and enjoy some great music!

Joining the Electronic Dance Music Society can be a great way to meet new people with similar interests, learn more about the electronic music scene, and attend events and concerts. The society also hosts its own events, which are open to the public.
Free Music
The Electronic Dance Music Society is a student organization at SUNY Albany that aims to provide students with free or discounted electronic music. The society also hosts events and workshops on campus. Joining the society gives you access to free or discounted music, as well as opportunities to learn more about electronic music and meet other students who share your interests.
Free Events
Our first benefit is that we offer our members free events. That’s right, FREE! These events include but are not limited to: guest lectures, EDM performances, panel discussions, and film screenings. We believe that offering free events will allow us to have a more open and diverse community because everyone will be able to join regardless of their financial background.
Our second benefit is that we provide our members with a safe space to enjoy their music and themselves. We believe that everyone should be able to enjoy music without feeling uncomfortable or unsafe. We want our members to feel like they can be themselves and express themselves freely without judgement.
Lastly, we believe that our members should have a say in what we do as an organization. We want our members to be involved in the planning and execution of our events so that they can feel like they are a part of something bigger than themselves. We believe that by involving our members in the decision-making process, we can create a more inclusive community where everyone feels like they belong.

If you are interested in joining the EDMS, you can attend one of our weekly meetings or fill out an application form on our website.
Come to Our Events
Whether you’re a seasoned raver or someone who is just curious about the scene, we welcome you to come to our events! This is a great way to get a feel for what the EDM Society is all about and to meet new people with similar interests.
Most of our events are held on campus, but we also go on trips to nearby clubs and festivals. In the past, we have gone to places like Boston, Montreal, and even Puerto Rico! We try to keep our events affordable and accessible for everyone.

In order to join the Electronic Dance Music Society, please follow these steps:
1. Visit our Facebook page.
2. Click on the “About” tab.
3. Under the “Info and Ads” section, click on the “Join Group” button.
4. Answer the questions that are asked in order to join the group.
5. Once you have been approved by an administrator, you will be added to the group and will be able to participate in all of our activities!
