History
Evangeline’s Bistro and Music House has been a fixture in the New Orleans French Quarter for over 20 years. The original owners, Jean-Pierre and Marie-Claire Alcée, are from France and Louisiana respectively, and they dreamed of creating a place where people could enjoy the best of both French and Louisiana cuisine. They named the restaurant after the famous poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, which tells the story of two lovers, separated by the Acadian exile of the mid-1700s.
The Alcée’s daughter, Angelique, now runs Evangeline’s with her husband Luke Nguyen, who is from Vietnam. The menu has evolved over the years to reflect Luke’s Vietnamese heritage, but it still remains true to its French roots. Dishes like pho bo (beef noodle soup), banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches), and crepes are all popular items on the menu. Luke and Angelique have also added their own personal touches to the restaurant, such as live music performances every night.
