Richie Hawtin
Richard “Richie” Hawtin (born June 4, 1970) is a British-Canadian electronic musician and DJ. In 1998, Hawtin and fellow Detroit techno producer John Acquaviva founded the Plus 8 record label, which they ran until 2006.
In the early 1990s, Hawtin was part of a group of second-generation techno producers from Detroit who were influenced by the original three: Derrick May, Juan Atkins, and Eddie Fowlkes. These producers — including Hawtin, Magda, Marc Houle, and Paco Osuna — came to be known as minimal techno.
