Daft Punk

Daft Punk is a French electronic music duo formed in 1993 by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. The duo achieved significant popularity in the late 1990s as part of the French house movement, and had continual success in the years following, combining elements of house music with funk, techno, disco, rock, and synth-pop. They are also considered one of the most successful electronic music acts of all time. The group was managed from 1996 to 2008 by Pedro Winter, the head of Ed Banger Records.

Daft Punk’s debut album Homework was released in 1997 to critical acclaim. Style Jukebox said it “features a selection of tracks that perfectly sum up what Daft Punk is all about–and they do so while simultaneously acting as a gateway into the group’s more experimental side.” The album was supported by singles “Around the World” and “Da Funk”. In March 2001, Daft Punk released their second album Discovery. Support for the album came from singles “One More Time”, “Aerodynamic”, and “Digital Love”. The album also contained the international hit single “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger”, which has been credited with helping to revive house music and has been used extensively in popular culture.

Justice

Justice is a French electronic music duo formed in 2003. The group consists of Gaspard Auge and Xavier de Rosnay. They are known for their unique blend of heavy basslines with rock and disco influences. Their debut album † was released in 2007 to critical acclaim. The follow-up, Audio, Video, Disco, was released in 2011 and was also well-received by critics.

The duo has been nominated for several awards, including the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album, and has won two MTV Video Music Awards. Justice has performed at various festivals, including Coachella, Glastonbury, and Lollapalooza.

M83

M83 is a French electronic music band led by Anthony Gonzalez and currently based in Los Angeles. The band’s musical style draws from 80s dream pop, synth-pop, shoegaze, and post-rock. They have released six albums, the most recent being Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming in 2011. M83’s sixth studio album Junk was released on 8 April 2016.

M83 was founded in 2001 in Antibes, France by Anthony Gonzalez and Nicolas Fromageau. The band was initially named “Mages”, which was a nod to Gonzalez’s interest in astronomy. They recorded and self-released their first album Slowly Rising the following year. The release of Kim & Jess’ split EP Paisley Pattern Ground included a remix of M83’s song “We Own the Sky”.

In 2005, M83 released Before the Dawn Heals Us to critical acclaim; it received a Gothic Music Award for best album that year. The album featured more vocals than before and incorporated synthesizer sounds into the mix. The track “Teen Angst” became a staple at nightclubs throughout 2006 and 2007.
