2010: Megadeth – “Endgame”
After a 20-year career, Megadeth refused to slow down in the 2010s, delivering some of their best music yet. “Endgame” is a perfect example, with its sharp riffs and bracing solos.

2011: Mastodon – “The Hunter”
Mastodon took a more streamlined approach on “The Hunter,” crafting catchy songs without sacrificing their complex songwriting or intricate musicianship. The result is one of the band’s most accessible – and best – albums.

2012: Lamb of God – “Resolution”
Lamb of God delivered one of the heaviest albums of their career with “Resolution.” The riffs are massive, the solos are shredding, and the overall atmosphere is incredibly menacing. It’s a true metal masterpiece.

2013: Black Sabbath – “13”

2014: Avenged Sevenfold – “Hail to the King”
On their sixth album, Avenged Sevenfold fully embraced their classic metal influences, resulting in an album that sounds both fresh and timeless. From start to finish, it’s one of the band’s strongest releases.

2015: Slayer – “Repentless”
Slayer made a triumphant return with “Repentless,” their first album without guitarist Jeff Hanneman. The riffs are fast and furious, and the overall sense of aggression is palpable throughout. It’s a fierce metal album befitting of Slayer’s legacy.

The band’s most recent album Silence in the Snow is one of their best yet, and tracks like “Until the World Goes Cold” and “Blinding Souls” are sure to get any metalhead’s blood pumping. Killswitch Engage

Some bands just seem to get better with age, and Killswitch Engage are certainly one of them. The Massachusetts metallers have released some of their best material in recent years, including the albums Disarm the Descent and Incarnate. The 2010s have been a decade of change for heavy metal, with new subgenres and trends emerging, and a number of great bassists have risen to prominence. In this article, we’re going to take a look at some of the best heavy metal bassists of the 2010s.

One of the most influential bassists of the 2010s has been Mark Osegueda of the death metal band Death Angel.
