Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. is one of the most talked about albums in recent memory. The release date was shrouded in secrecy and when it finally dropped, it was met with Critical acclaim. Lamar’s fourth studio album is a dense and complicated work that tackles themes of race, religion, and politics with the Compton MC’s customary wit and charisma. It’s not an easy listen, but it’s a rewarding one, and it’s already being hailed as one of the best hip-hop albums of the year.

J. Cole- 4 Your Eyez Only

On December 9, 2016, J. Cole released his fourth studio album 4 Your Eyez Only. The album was Cole’s first album in two years since 2014 Forest Hills Drive, and was preceded by two singles, “Deja Vu” and “False Prophets”. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, selling 492,000 copies in its first week, making it Cole’s second number one album. The album received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised Cole’s lyrical ability and maturity.

Chance the Rapper- Coloring Book

Releasing his third mixtape, Coloring Book, Chance the Rapper continues to break the mold and make history. The 13-track project is available for stream and download on Apple Music, and was accompanied by a slew of positive reviews.

The mixtape features some of today’s biggest names in hip hop, including Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, Justin Bieber, and more. Chance experiments with a number of different sounds on the project, making for a well-rounded listening experience.
