The VH1 Hip Hop Music Awards are back and we’ve got a rundown of the best and worst moments from this year’s show.

Introduction

Since its inception in 2000, the VH1 Hip Hop Music Awards has honored the biggest names in rap and hip hop. But it’s not just about the music — the event is also known for its outrageous fashion, over-the-top performances, and sometimes controversial moments.

As we prepare for the 2018 show, let’s take a look back at some of the best and worst moments from VH1 Hip Hop Music Awards history.

The Best

The VH1 Hip Hop Music Awards are always a great show. This year was no different. There were some great performances, some great acceptance speeches, and some great moments. Let’s take a look at the best moments of the show.

Best Male Hip Hop Artist

In recent years, the VH1 Hip Hop Music Awards have become one of the most prestigious award shows in hip hop. Every year, the best and brightest in the hip hop world come together to celebrate the music and culture that they love.

This year, the award for Best Male Hip Hop Artist went to Kendrick Lamar. Lamar is one of the most popular and acclaimed rappers in the world, and his win was well-deserved. He has released four studio albums, all of which have been widely praised by critics. His most recent album, DAMN., was released in 2017 and received eight Grammy nominations, winning five.

Lamar is known for his powerful and personal lyrics, which often deal with social and political issues. He is an important voice in the hip hop community, and his win at the VH1 Hip Hop Music Awards is a testament to his talent and influence.

Best Female Hip Hop Artist

This award is given to the hot female rapper of the moment. It’s always a close race, but this year we think Nicki Minaj has it in the bag. She’s been on fire with her new album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, and her collaboration with Justin Bieber on “Beauty and a Beat.” Her competition includes Iggy Azalea, who has had a breakout year with her debut album The New Classic, as well as Lizzo, Dej Loaf and Tink. But we think Nicki is going to take home the gold.

Best Hip Hop Group

The term “hip hop” can be used to describe a wide range of music styles, but at its core, hip hop is a style of music that originated in the African-American community. Hip hop music is typically characterized by its use of rhythmic beats and rhymes, and its focus on social and often political issues.

Hip hop groups are musical groups that typically consist of rappers, producers, and often other musical artists who perform together to create hip hop music. Some of the best-known and most successful hip hop groups of all time include A Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, N.W.A., and The Wu-Tang Clan. These groups have helped to shape the sound and style of hip hop music over the years, and they continue to be hugely popular among fans of the genre today.

Best Hip Hop Video

The best hip hop video of the year went to Kendrick Lamar for “Humble.” The stunning video, which was directed by Dave Meyers and the little homies, features Kendrick in a number of different settings and looks, including a beauty pageant and an alleyway. The video is creative and visually arresting, and it perfectly complements the song. It’s no wonder that it won the top prize.

Best Hip Hop Song

“Lose Yourself” by Eminem

There’s no denying that “Lose Yourself” is an all-time hip hop classic. It’s one of those songs that you can’t help but nod your head to, regardless of whether or not you’re a fan of Eminem. The song was released in 2002, and it immediately took the rap world by storm. It quickly rose to the top of the charts and won numerous awards, including an Grammy for Best Rap Song.

The Worst

The VH1 Hip Hop Music Awards are supposed to be a celebration of the best in hip hop music. However, this year’s event was marred by a number of cringe-worthy moments. From the poor quality of the performances to the offensive jokes, here are the worst moments from this year’s VH1 Hip Hop Music Awards.

Worst Male Hip Hop Artist

In what was arguably the most disappointing performance of the night, Eminem took the stage to a lackluster response from the crowd. He seemed out of breath and struggled to keep up with the beat, resulting in a sloppy and uninspired performance.

Worst Female Hip Hop Artist

There is no shortage of talented female rappers in the hip hop world, but there are also a lot of wannabes who don’t really have the skills to back up their aspirations. Every year, the VH1 Hip Hop Music Awards highlighting the best and worst in the industry, and this year was no different. Here is a look at the worst female hip hop artist of 2015.

Iggy Azalea took home the award for Worst Female Hip Hop Artist, and it’s not hard to see why. Her music is devoid of any real substance, and her “rapping” style consists mostly of her speaking in a fake accent and repeating the same phrases over and over again. She also caused some controversy when she made some inflammatory comments about African Americans on social media. All in all, Iggy Azalea is not a good representation of female rappers or hip hop artists in general, and she deservedly won this dubious award.

VH1 Hip Hop Music Awards: The Best and the Worst

Every year, VH1 recognizes the top performers in hip hop with their annual Hip Hop Honors awards. This year’s show was no different, with some of the biggest names in the industry being celebrated. However, not everyone can be a winner. Here’s a look at some of the best and worst moments from this year’s show.

Worst Hip Hop Group:

While there are many great hip hop groups out there, there can only be one winner. Unfortunately, this year that award went to Migos. The trio has been involved in a number of controversies over the past year, including assault charges and feuds with other artists. Additionally, their music has been criticized for being unoriginal and derivative. For these reasons, they were not deserving of this honor.

Worst Hip Hop Video

Lil Wayne – “Lollipop”

We get it, you like tattoos and you like girls. But do you really need to have them both in your video and doing the exact same thing? Because that’s what we see here. It’s just a close-up of Lil Wayne getting a tattoo of a sexy lady getting a tattoo of him. And then we see the lady, in slow motion, licking her lips. It’s all very…licking lips-y.

Worst Hip Hop Song

Every year, the VH1 Hip Hop Music Awards honor the best and the brightest in the hip hop world. But not everything that gets nominated is a winner. In fact, some of the songs that have been nominated for awards are just plain bad. Here are the worst hip hop songs of all time, according to the VH1 Hip Hop Music Awards.

“Laffy Taffy” by D4L
This song was nominated for two awards at the 2006 VH1 Hip Hop Music Awards, but it lost both times. And it’s no wonder why. “Laffy Taffy” is one of the most annoying and nonsensical songs ever recorded. It’s clear that the only reason it was nominated for any awards was because of its popularity, not because of its quality.

“My Humps” by The Black Eyed Peas
This song was nominated for three awards at the 2005 VH1 Hip Hop Music Awards, but it only won one. And even that award was for “Best Dance Performance,” which is not exactly a high compliment. “My Humps” is a crass and immature song that relies far too much on sexual innuendo to be remotely entertaining.

“Gangnam Style” by PSY
This song was nominated for four awards at the 2013 VH1 Hip Hop Music Awards, but it only won one. That award was for “Most Viral Video,” which is fitting, because “Gangnam Style” is nothing more than a viral sensation. It’s an obnoxious and over-the-top song that has no business being considered hip hop.
