Criteria
In order to be eligible for the award, a song must have been released between October 1st of the previous year and September 30th of the current year. Furthermore, the song must have achieved commercial success, meaning it must have charted on either the Billboard Hot 100 or Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. In addition, only songs that are primarily in the hip-hop genre are eligible; songs that feature hip-hop elements but are primarily of another genre (e.g. pop, R&B, etc.) are not eligible. Finally, songs that are nominated for other iHeartRadio Music Awards (e.g. Song of the Year, Best Collaboration) are not eligible for this award.
Voting
The iHeartRadio Music Award for Hip-Hop Song of the Year is determined by commercialsuccess as well as votes fromactive hip-hop listeners on iHeartRadio. Voting takes place through March 25th on iHeartRadio.com/awards. The winner will be announced live on Sunday, April 3rd, at the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards which will broadcast live on FOX at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
