The 1990s was the decade of Indie Rock. This was the era when music fans were introduced to a new kind of rock music that was different from the mainstream. Indie Rock bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden became popular during this time. These bands were able to provide music fans with an alternative to the mainstream rock music that was being played on the radio. The new millennium and the new era of Indie Rock
The new millennium and the new era of Indie Rock: In the early 2000s, a new wave of indie rock bands emerged, many of whom were influenced by the early 1990s Seattle grunge scene. These bands included The White Stripes, The Strokes, Interpol, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. At the same time, a number of established indie rock bands released highly acclaimed albums, including Pavement’s Brighten the Corners (1997), Tortoise’s TNT (1998), and Built to Spill’s Keep It Like a Secret (1999).
