Tiziano Ferro
Tiziano Ferro is an Italian singer, songwriter, producer and actor. He broke through in 2001 with his international hit “Perdono” and has since released seven studio albums, which have all topped the Italian Albums Chart. In 2002, Ferro represented Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest with his song “Per Me è Importantissimo”, which placed fourth.
Ferro has sold more than 8 million records worldwide and is one of the best-selling Italian artists of all time. His music has been used in many television shows and movies, including the likes of Scrubs, Rookie Blue, Glee, The O.C., Pineapple Express and Step Up 3D.
Laura Pausini
Laura Pausini is an Italian singer-songwriter, record producer and television personality. As a child, she was encouraged by her father to join him on stage and sing. She grew up listening to Italian singers such as Mina, Gabriella Ferri, and Gianni Morandi, as well as internationally successful pop acts such as Madonna and Whitney Houston. After competing in local singing contests, Pausini signed her first recording contract. Her self-titled debut album was released in 1993 and became an instant success, selling over two million copies worldwide.
Pausini’s second album, Laura, was released in 1994 and reached the top of the Italian albums chart. The album’s lead single “La solitudine” became one of her most successful singles, topping the charts in Italy, Belgium and Switzerland. The song also won Pausini the Best New Artist prize at the 1995 Sanremo Music Festival. Other successful singles from Laura include “Sto pensando a te” and “Il mio sbaglio più grande”.
In 1996, Pausini released her third album, Le cose che vivi / The Things We Live For. The album’s title track became another one of her signature songs, reaching the top of the charts in Italy, Spain and Portugal. The album also spawned the singles “Limpido”, “Se non te” and “E ritorno da te”, which were all successful in Italy and across Europe.
Pausini has released a string of successful albums throughout her career, including Inedito (2011), Simili (2016) and Fatti sentire (2018). She has sold over 70 million records worldwide and has won numerous awards, including five Latin Grammy Awards and three World Music Awards.
Eros Ramazzotti
Eros Luciano Walter Ramazzotti (born 28 October 1963) is an Italian singer and songwriter. Ramazzotti is popular in Italy and most European countries, and Latin America, having released duets of his songs with singers such as Ricky Martin and Anastacia. He has released thirty three studio albums, one EP, three compilation albums, three live albums and eleven singles.
Ramazzotti grew up in Monterotondo (Rome), the son of a housewife and a bus driver. He began playing guitar at age seven, but was not particularly interested in music. At age sixteen he enrolled in an intensive five-year course in music composition at the Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome; he was one of only twelve to be accepted into the program.
Ramazzotti’s first EP, La Luce Buona delle Stelle, was issued in 1982 by RTI Music. His first album dedicated to his own compositions was Noi due nel mondo e nell’anima produced by he himself for BMG Ariola; it included “Una storia importante” which quickly became an immediate hit across Europe and Latin America. In 1983 he won the Disco Volante, an Italian musical contest for new talents. His first international hit was “Terra promessa”, which topped the charts in Belgium, France and The Netherlands in 1984.
In 1986 Ramazzotti took part with Gianni Morandi and Enrico Ruggeri as singers representing Italy at that year’s World Popular Song Festival held in Tokio with the song “Musica è”. In May of that year Ramazzotti’s single “Cuori agitati” peaked at no. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart making him briefly the most successful Italian artist ever on that chart up to that moment behind only Adriano Celentano who had reached no. 3 with his 1958 single “24 Mila Baci”. In 1987 he released his second international hit Eros. The album went Gold in several countries including Germany where it ultimately received 5x Gold certification for sales exceeding 500,000 units sold; it eventually sold over one million copies worldwide becoming his first million selling album as well as spawning five successful singles: “Adesso tu”, “Musica è”, “Toffee”, “I belong to you (Il ritmo della passione)” featuring Anastacia on lead vocals which reached number-one both in Italy as well as across much of Europe becoming one of Ramazotti’s most recognizable hits to date; it remains his only English-language release ever to appear on any Billboard chart peaking at number twenty four on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart while also appearing on their Adult Top 40 reaching number thirty six – both marks staying as his highest charting effort ever on any Billboard airplay charts until date – while also performing similarly around much of continental Europe where it topped airplay charts across several radio formats including contemporary hit radio ranking among one of Eros’ most successful crossover releases thus far; additionally it became a top five smash both on mainstream pop/rock formatted radio stations reaching number four while also crossing over onto adult contemporary radio formats where it peaked at number two giving him another top five hit single on that airplay format while also ranked among his most successful crossover hits into the adult contemporary realm thus far – being certifiably one of Eros’ signature classics and among his best known songs internationally up to this day – along with becoming a smash hit club play song topping dance music charts around much of Europe as well; additional smash hits followed suit such as “Più bella cosa” which eventually became certified Diamond by the Federation of the Italian Music Industry for sales exceeding 1 million copies sold throughout Italy alone (as well becoming certified 6x Platinum by SNEP – Syndicat National de l’Édition Phonographique – for sales exceeding 600,000 units throughout France) ultimately topping both pop/rock airplay charts as well as adult contemporary airplay charts around much Europe while also crossing over onto mainstream top 40 pop radio formats appearing among some countries’ official year end countdown lists for 1997 ultimately becoming certifiably one of Eros’ best known songs internationally up to this day selling an estimate 8 million copies worldwide thus far making it one of the best selling singles from any artist internationally during that decade while also giving him another signature classic alongside many of his other hits; similarly “Se bastasse una canzone” became yet another top five mainstream pop/rock formatted radio crossover hit for Ramazzotti ranking as another one among his all time signature classics alongside many others up to this day being certifiably among not only some of Eros’ biggest hits but also some of continental Europe & Latin America’s best known & timeless pop anthems throughout the 1990s & 2000s (decade) ultimately going on to achieve similar massive international success & popularity much like many other studio albums & singles he has released throughout his career up to this day around much of continental Europe & Latin America
