The National- I Am Easy to Find
The National’s eighth studio album, I Am Easy to Find, is set for release on Friday, May 17th. The record follows up the band’s 2017 album Sleep Well Beast, which won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.
I Am Easy to Find features 16 tracks and was produced by member Aaron Dessner with co-production by Matt Berninger and Brendan Canning. The album was mixed by Peter Katis and recorded at Long Pond Studios in Hudson Valley, New York.
The National will embark on a North American tour in support of I Am Easy to Find this summer. The trek kicks off on July 26th in Toronto and includes stops in Montreal, Boston, Philadelphia, New York City, Washington D.C., Pittsburgh, Columbus, Detroit, Chicago, St. Paul, Denver, Seattle, Vancouver, Portland, Berkeley, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Austin, Dallas and Nashville.
The Raconteurs- Help Us Stranger
After a decade-long hiatus, The Raconteurs—the rock supergroup featuring Jack White, Brendan Benson, Jack Lawrence, and Patrick Keeler—have returned with their long-awaited third album, Help Us Stranger. The album is full of the group’s trademark vintage rock sound, with catchy hooks and melodies aplenty. But there’s also a more experimental edge to some of the tracks, including the synth-driven “Now That You’re Gone” and the atmospheric “Don’t Bother Me.” Overall, it’s a solid return from one of the most beloved indie rock bands of the past decade.
Bon Iver- i,i
Bon Iver’s fourth album finds the band expanding their sound with a new focus on experimentalism and electronic production. i,i is a beautiful and strange record, full of lush soundscapes and enigmatic lyrics. It’s an album that will satisfy longtime fans while also attracting new listeners to the band’s unique brand of indie rock.
Vampire Weekend- Father of the Bride
Vampire Weekend’s first album in six years, Father of the Bride, is due out May 3rd on Sony. In a recent interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, frontman Ezra Koenig revealed that the album features 18 songs, making it their longest record to date. The band also shared two new tracks from the album, “Harmony Hall” and “2021.”
Weyes Blood- Titanic Rising
Weyes Blood, the project of Natalie Mering, is set to release her fourth album, Titanic Rising, on April 5th via Sub Pop. The new album follows 2016’s Front Row Seat to Earth, and was co-produced by Mering and frequent collaborator Jonathan Rado (of Foxygen).
Titanic Rising is a record about public versus private personas, and the idea of sinking or being pulled under by love. “A lot of people my age are obsessed with the Titanic,” Mering said in a press release. “It’s this idea of humanity thinking they’re invincible and above nature, and then mother nature kind of being like ‘No, you’re not.’ I feel like that was us with the election. We were thinking everything was going great and progress was being made, and suddenly we hit an iceberg.”
The first single from Titanic Rising is “Andromeda,” a spacey track that sees Mering grappling with her place in the universe. “‘Andromeda’ is about seeing yourself from a cosmic perspective,” Mering explained in a press release. “It’s recognizing your insignificance in the grand scope of things but also finding comfort in that.”
