2020

Pitbull will receive the 2021 Premio Lo Nuestro a la Excelencia award, it was announced today. The Miami-based rapper will be presented with the honor at the 32nd annual Premios Lo Nuestro Awards, broadcast live on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 8pm ET on Univision.

Pitbull follows in the footsteps of past Premio Lo Nuestro a la Excelencia honorees including Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Marc Anthony, Natalia Lafourcade and Luis Miguel.

“We are thrilled to recognize Pitbull as this year’s Premio Lo Nuestro a la Excelencia honoree,” said Eduardo Rodriguez, president and CEO of Univision Communications Inc. “He is a true pioneer in the music industry whose journey from Miami to the top of the charts is an inspiration to us all.”

Pitbull has sold more than 75 million records worldwide and his hits include “Timber,” “Give Me Everything” and “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho).” He has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music including Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Lil Jon, Sean Paul and Usher.

2019

In 2019, the top honor went to Puerto Rican reggaeton and Latin trap artist Bad Bunny. Other winners included Ozuna, J Balvin, and Rosalia.

2018

Pitbull was the big winner at the Latin Music Awards in 2018, taking home the award for Artist of the Year. He also won awards for Male Artist of the Year and Best Urban Performance.

Pitbull is set to receive the Top Latin Artist of the Year award at the Latin American Music Awards (LAMAs) next month. The rapper, who was born in Miami to Cuban parents, has been a key figure in the Latin music scene for over a decade. He will receive the award at the annual event, which will be held on April 25.

Best Song

Pitbull will receive the Song of the Decade Award for “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)” at the Latin Music Awards 2021.

The song, which was released in 2009, spent seven weeks atop Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and has been certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Pitbull will receive the award during a live ceremony on Thursday, April 29, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Telemundo. The show will also air on NBC Universo.

“I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)” is one of Pitbull’s most iconic songs and helped put him on the map as a global superstar. The track samples Lil Jon’s “Get Low” and features Pitbull rapping in both English and Spanish.

Pitbull has released 11 studio albums and has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. He has also collaborated with some of the biggest names in music, including Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Rihanna, Flo Rida, and Maroon 5.

Pitbull will be honored with the “Latin Legend” award at the Latin American Music Awards (LAMAS) 2021.

The “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)” hitmaker will receive the prestigious accolade in recognition of his outstanding career and contribution to Latin music.

Pitbull will be presented with the award by fellow Latin superstar J. Balvin during the live broadcast of the LAMAS on October 21.

Ozuna

Reggaeton and Latin trap singer Ozuna will be honored with the “Artist of the Year” award at the upcoming Latin Music Awards 2021.

The award recognizes Ozuna’s achievements over the past year, including his record-breaking album ENOC, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart. The album also won a Latin Grammy for “Best Urban Music Album.”

In addition to his musical success, Ozuna has also been recognized for his work as a philanthropist and social activist. He is a founding member of the charity “El Rescate De Los Niños,” which provides food and resources to children in need.

The Latin Music Awards 2021 will air live on April 15 on Telemundo.

Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny won five awards at the Latin Grammy Awards in 2020, and he is up for five more at the 2021 show. The Puerto Rican singer is nominated for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Urban Fusion/Performance and Best Alternative Song.

Pitbull, real name Armando Christian Pérez, has released 11 studio albums throughout his career, including his most recent release ‘Libertad 548’, which debuted at number one on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart.

He has also won multiple Latin Grammy Awards, including ‘Best Urban Music Album’ for ‘Armandao’ in 2010 and ‘Best Urban Performance’ for ‘El Taxi’ in 2015.

In addition to his musical accomplishments, Pitbull has also been praised for his work in philanthropy, namely his efforts to help those affected by natural disasters through his SLAM (Sports Leadership and Management) Foundation.

Song of the Year

The Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences announced Wednesday that Daddy Yankee’s “Con Calma” featuring Snow, Jhay Cortez’s “No Me Conoce” remix featuring J. Balvin and Bad Bunny and Darell, Ozuna and Anuel AA’s “Baila Baila Baila” remix are the top three nominees in the Song of the Year category at the Latin Grammy Awards.

Other nominees in the category include Anuel AA, Ozuna and Daddy Yankee’s “China,” Bad Bunny’s “Mia” featuring Drake, Ricky Martin’s “Cántalo” featuring Yotuel, Rosalía and Ozuna’s “Aute Cuture,” Sebastián Yatra, Manuel Turizo and Richie Loving’s “Traveling” and Pedro Capó, Farruko and Alicia Keys’ “Calma (Remix).”

The 21st annual Latin Grammy Awards will air on Nov. 19 on Univision.
